Ben Rikard serves as the primary media relations contact for volleyball, men's basketball, baseball and cross country teams at SFA.
After spending his first three seasons at SFA working primarily with the baseball and volleyball teams, he took on a bigger load in his fourth season by moving into a role that included secondary contact for the Lumberjack football team during its run to consecutive Southland Conference titles and as primary contact for the Ladyjack basketball team.
One year later he took the role of primary contact for the men's basketball and cross country teams, while hanging onto his duties with both the volleyball and baseball teams.
A member of the National Baseball Writer's Association, Rikard spearheaded Lumberjack outfielder Bryson Myles' all-America campaign in 2011 and helped the junior garner national honors from six separate publications while also earning the titles as Southland Conference player, hitter and newcomer of the year.
Rikard graduated in 2006 from SFA with a degree in communications, specializing in Radio/TV while also minoring in journalism. He broke into sports media by calling high school sports on air in the Nacogdoches/Lufkin area and eventually landed a postgraduate internship in media relations at the University of North Texas following his college graduation.
He has continued to use his broadcast skills throughout his time at SFA as the voice of Ladyjack basketball for the 2010-11 season, and calling games for two years for the Lumberjack baseball team.
