SFA Track & Field Competes at Arkansas Qualifier

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Stephen F. Austin track and field program sent a handful of athletes to Fayetteville, Ark., Friday afternoon for the Arkansas Qualifier. Sophomore Cass Brown was the highlight of the meet. Brown won the men's 400-meter dash with a school-record time of 46.39. It is the second time this season Brown has set a new school record in the event.
After a slow start in the men's triple jump, which he recorded fouls on his first three jumps, sophomore Jamal Peden rebounded to win the event. Peden saved his best for last recording a jump of 50-10.00 for the win.
The Lumberjacks 1,600-meter relay team closed out the meet with a victory. The team of Hampton Hawkins, Torin Crowder, Glenn McQuinney and Cass Brown recorded a time of 3:10.21 for the win, missing their school record by 21-hundredths of a second.
