SFA Track and Field Competes at Mt. SAC Relays

WALNUT, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team sent several distance athletes to Walnut, Calif., and posted some very strong results Thursday evening.
Sophomore Adam Saloom recorded a sixth-place finish in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with his time of 9:05.27. The personal best time is the second-best in the conference and was approximately two seconds shy of a school record.
Ladyjacks Megan Jenkins and Amy Shackelford took to the track next in the women's 10,000-meter run. The duo posted the two fastest times in the conference this season, and two of the fastest times in the SLC over the past five years.
Jenkins recorded a time of 35:59.56 to finish 23rd overall. Shackelford was the next athlete to cross the finish line clocking a time of 36:04.12.
In the men's 10,000 meters, sophomore Mitch Ownbey clocked a time of 30:11.75 to finish 24th overall. Teammate Dennis Yeats crossed the finish line 34th overall with a time of 30:39.13. The Lumberjack duo now ranks 1 - 2 in the Southland Conference.
