SFA Records 10 Top-Five Finishes at TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team continued its strong outdoor campaign Saturday afternoon at the TCU Invitational recording 10 top-five finishes. Junior Kenneth McKinley led the Lumberjacks throws squad with a first-place finish in the discus (164-5) and second in the shot put (55-9.75). McKinley's mark in the shot put was also an NCAA regional qualifying throw. Sophomore Darwin Johnson finished third in the discus with a toss of 159-00, while classmate James Williams was fifth in the shot put (48-11). Sophomore Wade Whittington was fifth in the javelin with a throw of 174-7. The Ladyjack throwers were just as impressive in the throws as the SFA men. Sophomore Markeisha Edwards was second in the shot put with her NCAA regional qualifying throw of 47-9.00. Classmate Sarah Emerson recorded a throw of 140-11 in the javelin to finish second overall in the event. Sophomore Kristina Windham was second in the pole vault when she cleared a height of 11-9.75 in the event. Sophomore Leah Matthews was a star for SFA on the track finishing second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.16. The SFA track and field team returns to action Thursday when they travel to Denton, Texas, to compete in the UNT Invitational. -SFA- |
