SFA Records Several Top-Five Finishes at NSU

NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team traveled nine athletes to Natchitoches, La., Saturday to compete in the NSU Last Chance Meet. SFA returned to Nacogdoches with one individual title, and several top-five finishes. Freshman Mary Dickerson continued her strong rookie season by winning the women's 400-meter dash. She crossed the finish line with a time of 56.30. Classmate Lauren Watts recorded a time of 57.20 to finish second overall, while classmate Danielle Burchett was third (1:00.20). Junior Camelia Sams recorded top-five finishes in the women's long and triple jump. She was third in the long jump (19-0.00) and recorded a mark of 37-8.00 to finish fifth in the triple jump. Senior Brian Wall clocked a time of 1:54.23 to finish fifth in the men's 800-meter run, while junior Matt Langdon recorded top five finishes in the discus and hammer throw. Langdon was fourth in the discus with a mark of 162-10, and third in the hammer throw (175-6). SFA returns to action Friday, May 29 when they travel to Norman, Okla., to compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in Norman, Okla. The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships are scheduled to begin Wednesday, June 10th, in Fayetteville, Ark. -SFA-
