Stephen Sets School Record, Advances

AUSTIN, Texas - Sophomore Chelsea Stephen advanced to second round of the women's 100-meter hurdles with her school-record performance Friday afternoon at the NCAA Preliminary meet in Austin. She clocked a school-record time of 13.47 to place 15th overall advancing Saturday's second round of action.
Sophomore Jamal Peden recorded a jump of 50-2.00 to place 24th in the men's triple jump. Classmate Cass Brown recorded a 15th-place finish (46.63) in the second-round of the men's 400-meter dash but missed qualifying for the NCAA Championships by .28 of a second. Senior Mary Dickerson placed 26th in the second round of the women's 400 meters with a time of 55.05.
Junior Adam Saloom clocked a time of 9:14.90 to finish 29th in the steeplechase but was unable to advance.
The final day of action at the NCAA Preliminary meet will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday with the first round of the men's discus. The track events will begin at 6 p.m. with the 400-meter relay quarterfinals.
