June 9, 2005
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Stephen F. Austin senior distance runner Ana Rodriguez competed in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Championships in Sacarmento, Calif., Wednesday and just missed a school record time. Rodriguez crossed the finish line with a time of 16:46.77 to finish 22 overall. It marked the third time in her career, and the second this season that Rodriguez has advanced to the NCAA Championships.
The race wraps up arguably the most highly decorated career for any Ladyjack athlete in school history. Rodriguez is a 16-time All-Southland Conference athlete, an 11-time SLC individual champion and a three-time NCAA qualifier. She was also named 2002 and 2003 SLC Female Athlete of the Year after leading the Ladyjack cross country team to back-to-back conference titles. During her career, Rodriguez helped guide SFA to two SLC cross country titles, an SLC indoor track and field title and an SLC outdoor track and field championship.
