SFA Travels to Baton Rouge
Jan. 31, 2003 NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team will be in Baton Rouge, La., Saturday to compete at the LSU Purple Tiger meet. The field events begin at 3 p.m., with the women's weight throw. The track events get underway at 6 p.m., with the men's distance medley relay. The meet will be held at the LSU Fieldhouse. League Standings The Lumberjacks have numerous athletes among the conference's top five in their respective events. Bryan Williams is fourth in the mile run with a time of 4:21.69. Nathan Flores is just behind Williams with a time of 4:22.19. Cody Clark is fifth in the 3,000 meters with his time of 8:54.07. Josh Hufstedler is currently second in the 5,000 meters with his time of 15:53.08. Mat Albertson is currently third in the SLC in the 5,000 with his time of 15:53.52. The Lumberjacks have recorded the second fastest time in the distance medley relay (10:18.57). For the Ladyjacks, Jocelyn Stevens is third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.90. The Ladyjacks have recorded the second-fastest time in the 1,600-meter relay (3:57.43). Jessica Claiborne is currently fourth in the long jump (19-4.00). Claiborne is third in the triple jump (40-3.25) while teammate Shametra Boykins is fourth (39-6.00). Blake Gordon is currently second in the shot put with her toss of 45-4.25. Jennifer Schreiner is currently second in the pole vault (10-11.75) while teammate Kasie Query is third with her vault of 10-6.00. Up Next... The SFA men and women's track and field team will return to action Saturday Feb. 8th, when it will travel to Houston, Texas, to compete in the Runsport All-Comers meet. |
