PLANO, Texas - Senior thrower Destine Rawls (Houston, Texas) was named Southland Conference Athlete of the Week announced the league Tuesday. It is the second-straight week that a Ladyjack has received the honor (Feb. 5 Jessica Claiborne).

Rawls set a new school record in the shot put with her toss of 50 feet, 9.25 inches at the Southwest Classic meet in Houston, Texas. The mark was an improvement on her record-setting toss of 50-5.50 that she set at the LSU Purple Tiger meet in Baton Rouge, La. Rawls currently ranks second in the conference and 22nd nationally in the shot put.

SFA returns to action Friday at the SLC Indoor Championships in Houston, Texas.
