Marshall Earns Third League Honor

Feb. 18, 2008

FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack thrower Frednisha Marshall is turning the SLC Athlete of the Week honor into a routine habit. Marshall is the reigning Southland Conference Track and Field Athlete of the Week, which marks the third time during the indoor season she has received the award.

The Tyler sophomore recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, and set a new SLC record in the weight throw at the UH-Bayou City Invitational with her throw of 61-11.00. The mark was good enough to win the event, out-distancing the competition by more than eight feet. She also recorded a third-place finish in the women's shot put (46-8.25).

The SFA track and field team returns to action Friday when they travel to Houston, Texas to compete in the SLC Indoor Championships. The two-day meet will take place at the Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse on the Houston Campus.
