FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior pole vaulter Adam Keul (Tyler, Texas) proved Saturday why he is considered one of the nation's top pole vaulters. Keul vaulted a height of 17-7.75 at the NCAA Indoor Championships, placing him in a tie for eighth place and earning him All-America honors. It is Keul's third All-America honor.

"Adam had a great opportunity to win it," said SFA head track and field coach Phil Olson. "The winning vault was 17-11.75 and Adam has vaulted over 18 feet before in his career. It just wasn't his day. But we have Adam back for the outdoor season and he has been jumping well in practice, so maybe we can make a run at the outdoor meet coming up at the end of May."

The Lumberjack and Ladyjack track and field teams will kick off the 2002 outdoor season Thursday at the Texas A&M Multis/Relays in College Station, Texas. The meet is a three-day event that runs through Saturday.
