SFA Track & Field Travels to Rice

The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team returns to action Friday when it travels Houston, Texas, to compete in the Rice Bayou Classic. The two-day meet will be only the second outing of the outdoor season after the York Relays were cancelled due inclement weather.
SFA was in Natchitoches, La., Saturday, March 15, competing at the Northwestern State Relays, and came away with some very strong performances. Senior co-captain Zach Ross led the SFA charge winning the 110-meter hurdles, and finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles. Ross recorded an NCAA regional qualifying time of 14.11 in the 110 hurdles, and just missed a regional mark in the 400 hurdles with his time of 53.36.
The Ladyjacks dominated the high jump at the Northwestern State Relays placing three in the top five, including senior Audrey Azu and Meghan Denman who claimed the top-two spots. Sophomore Silent-Joye Egboba-Waye recorded a time of 14.38 to beat out teammate Tabitha Riley (14.43) for the women's 100-meter hurdles.
SFA also posted a title in the men's 4x100-meter relay. The team of seniors Johnny Thacker and Stephon Rhea and freshman Ty Thomas and Sherman Rosborough crossed the finish line with a time of 41.18 to win the event.
SFA will return to action Wednesday when they travel to Austin, Texas, to compete at the Texas Relays. The meet will last through Saturday, April 5th.
