SFA Sends Five Athletes to Drake Relays
April 26, 2002 NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field teams are sending five athletes to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete in the Drake Relays. Juniors Jessica Claiborne (Spring, Texas), Paul Todd (Marshall, Texas) and senior Misty Ballard-Swan (Carlsbad, N.M.) will be competing Friday in the university division, while seniors Adam Keul (Tyler, Texas) and Destine Rawls (Houston, Texas) will be competing Saturday in the invitational for the pole vault and the shot put, respectively. Keul is currently tops in the Southland Conference and second in the nation with his vault of 18-2.50 which he set at the Texas Relays. Ballard-Swan is currently the league leader in the women's pole vault with her NCAA provisional mark of 13-1.50 that she set at the TCU Invitational. Rawls is the league leader in the discus (154-2.00) and is second in the shot put with her toss of 50-1.75. Claiborne is currently seventh in the long jump (19-5.50) and fifth in the triple jump (40-3.25). Todd currently holds the league's second-best mark in the high jump (6-10.75). The SFA track and field teams will continue their 2002 outdoor season Friday, May 3, at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. SFA will return the following day to host the SFA Invitational at the Fletcher Garner Track at Homer Bryce Stadium. -SFA-
