NACOGDOCHES - Senior pole vaulter Misty Ballard-Swan (Carlsbad, N.M.) was named 2002 Verizon Academic All-District first team Thursday announced the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Ballard-Swan capped off a successful senior season at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships where she won the pole vault individual title with her vault of 12-5.50. The individual title comes on the heels of Ballard-Swan earning All-Southland Conference honors in the event during the indoor season. Ballard-Swan was one of 10 athletes named to the first team.

The Academic All-District honor is the second consecutive for Ballard-Swan. She was also a 2001 Verizon Academic All-District and All-America selection.
