NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Laceé Carmon has joined the Stephen F. Austin track and field coaching staff and will work with the horizontal jumps squad head coach Phil Olson announced Wednesday afternoon. Carmon will also help assist with the Lumberjack and Ladyjack hurdlers.

"Coach Lacee' brings to SFA excitement and intelligence that will greatly impact our entire team," said Olson. "She comes from two outstanding programs, having been tutored by head coaches Victor Lopez and Jim Bevan while a student-athlete at Rice University and most recently as an assistant coach for Carla Coffey at Smith College. We are very fortunate to have someone of Lacee's character and reputation in our program."

Carmon comes to Nacogdoches from Smith College in Northhampton, Mass., where she worked as an assistant coach. During her time at Smith College, Carmon worked with the sprinters, hurdlers and horizontal jumps squad developing training plans for certain events. Several athletes earned New England Division III and ECAC championship qualifying marks under Carmon's guidance.

A USATF level one coach, Carmon also served as a co-lecturer of applied exercise science.

A four-year letterwinner in track and field at Rice, Carmon was the true definition of a student-athlete. During her collegiate career, she earned Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll honors, was named a Western Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete and was awarded the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award. Carmon graduated from Rice in May 2008 with her bachelor of arts in kinesiology and psychology.
