NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's cross country teams competed at the Southland Conference Championships Monday morning in Natchitoches, La. The Lumberjacks recorded their fifth-straight conference title, while the Ladyjacks finished second overall. The `Jacks scored 28 points to outpace their next closest competitor, Sam Houston State.

The `Jacks dominated the race placing five athletes among the field's top nine. Cody Clark, who missed last year's race due to an injury, fought back this season to win the individual title. Clark received tough competition from four of his teammates as Tedla Fanta (fourth), Cole Hollingsworth (sixth), Chance Edwards (eighth) and Rodney Joseph (ninth) each earned All-SLC honors. It marked the first time in school history that the `Jacks have place their top five runners among the field's top 10.

Junior Ashley Monteau won the women's individual title, but the Ladyjacks finished second overall for the second year in a row. It marks the fourth straight season that a Ladyjack has won the individual title. Monteau was one of two Ladyjacks to earn All-Southland Conference honors as teammate Katrina Nicholas finished fifth overall.
