SFA Student-Athletes Report Back to Campus Following Hurricane Ike

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin athletics department will resume normal business operations Tuesday SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill announced Monday afternoon. SFA student-athletes have been returning to campus since Hurricane Ike left the Nacogdoches area early Saturday evening.
"Our coaching staffs have been in contact with their student-athletes throughout the weekend, and most of our athletes have reported back to campus," said Hill. "Despite the obstacles presented by Hurricane Ike, our teams have been able to stay focused on their individual seasons. The credit goes to our coaches who have dedicated themselves to the university and their athletes."
The Lumberjack football team returned to the practice field Monday morning for its first workout since classes were canceled last Friday. SFA returns to action Saturday when it travels to Macomb, Ill., to face No. 20 Western Illinois. The game is slated to begin at 6:05 p.m. from Hanson Field.
The Ladyjack volleyball team returns to action Tuesday when it hosts North Texas at 7 p.m. in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. SFA was scheduled to be in Houston at the University of Houston Invitational over the weekend, but dates and times for the tournament are still pending. The SFA cross country teams, which were also scheduled to be in Houston, will be competing at the Texas A&M Invitational Friday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The Ladyjack soccer team is also back on its normal schedule. SFA will be in Omaha, Neb., to face Creighton Friday. The Ladyjacks will close out the weekend with a Sunday contest at Nebraska.
