SFA Baseball Drops Second Straight
Feb. 9, 2007
MONROE, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks started off Friday night's game hitting their fifth home run in four games when senior Steven Hill knocked one to left center field, but it wasn't enough as the Lumberjacks lost their second straight. SFA fell, 3-1, to Louisiana-Monroe to send its overall record to 1-3 on the year. The Warhawks are 1-0.
Hill, a first-team preseason All-Southland Conference pick, had only one hit in the game, but made the most of it with his first home run of the season. The Houston native has had a hit in each of the `Jacks' first four games of the season. Dating back to last season, Hill has hit in each of his last 24 games.
SFA starter, Erich Lehmann pitched 5.2 innings in his second start of the season. He gave up four hits, but did not allow any runs. He also struck out six. Reliever Heath Konesheck suffered the loss for the Lumberjacks after giving up ULM's three runs in two innings pitched.
ULM and SFA will play the second game of three-game series Saturday at 1 p.m. from Warhawk Field.
