    NACOGDOCHES - Junior Brian Steinocher pitched 7.0 innings, surrendering only one run on one hit and struck out eight batters as the Lumberjacks cruised past Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 7-1, Saturday afternoon at Jaycees Field. The 'Jacks are now 10-39 on the season.

    The SFA offense provided Steinocher more than enough offense scoring one run in the second, three in the third, one in the sixth and two more in the seventh to pick up his second victory of the season. After jumping on the scoreboard with a run in the in second, SFA was back on the attack in the very next inning. With one out David Jeans tripled off the left field wall. Jeans scored when Kyle Freeman singled to right field. Catcher Steven Hill then hit is 13th home run of the season with a shot to left field.

    The Islanders scored a run without the benefit of a hit in the top of the fifth, but SFA answered an inning later. The 'Jacks had runners at first and second when freshman Zack Gardner singled to right center to score Chase Sadler. SFA closed out the scoring with two more runs in the seventh inning.

    Freeman and Hill both finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate with a couple of runs scored. Hill also had two runs batted in, while Freeman added an RBI. Junior David Jeans went to 2-for-5 with a run scored. Kevin Croft led the Lumberjacks with a 3-for-4 outing. He also drove in two RBI.

    The Lumberjacks close out the two-game series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Sunday. The game against the Islanders is set to begin at 1 p.m. from Jaycees Field.
