Lumberjacks Set to Play Four

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team will look to end a three-game skid as it travels to Houston Tuesday to face the Cougars (2-2). The game against Houston is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. from Cougar Field, and will be the first of four games the `Jacks will play over a six-day span. SFA will be in Edinburg, Texas, Friday to compete in the Al Ogletree Classic. The `Jacks will face tournament-host Texas-Pan American Friday at 5 p.m. SFA will return to the field less than 24 hours later for a 1 p.m. game against No. 17 (Baseball America Top 25 poll) Arkansas. The Lumberjacks will close out the Al Ogletree Classic Sunday with a 1 p.m. game against TCU. The Al Ogletree Classic will be played at Edinburg Stadium.
SFA vs. the Cougars: The Lumberjacks are 1-21 (.045) all-time against Houston, since joining the ranks of NCAA Division I in 1988. It marks the first time the two teams have met on the diamond since the 1994 season when the Cougars swept the two-game series. The `Jacks lone victory in the series came during the 1990 season when SFA recorded a 4-3 decision in Nacogdoches.
SFA vs. the Broncs: The Lumberjacks are 3-2 (.600) all-time against Texas-Pan American. Friday's game will mark the first meeting between the two teams since the 1991 season. The two teams met four times on the diamond that season with the `Jacks winning three of the four contests.
SFA vs. the Razorbacks: The Lumberjacks are 0-1 all-time against Arkansas. The lone meeting between the two teams came during the 1989 season when the Razorbacks recorded a 9-1 victory.
SFA vs. the Horned Frogs: The `Jacks are 2-7 (.222) all-time against TCU. Sunday's game will be the first meeting between the two teams since the 1995 season when TCU swept the two-game series. SFA recorded its two wins in the series during the 1990 season.
On Deck ... The Lumberjacks return home for one game on Tuesday Feb. 21 when they will host Dallas Baptist. The game against the Patriots is slated to begin at 2 p.m. from Jaycees Field at the Nacogdoches City Park. The `Jacks will then hit the road for a rematch with Arkansas-Little Rock. The `Jacks will open the three-game series Friday Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. The final two games of the series aganist the Trojans will be Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.
