Lumberjacks Travel to Louisiana-Monroe

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team returns to action Friday to open a three-game series against Louisiana-Monroe. The `Jacks enter the series with 4-13 (.235) overall record and 1-2 (.667) Southland Conference mark. The `Jacks open the series Friday with a 6:30 p.m. game at Indian Field. Saturday's game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start, followed by a 1 p.m. game to close out the series on Sunday. Junior Brian Steinocher is scheduled to take the mound Friday for the `Jacks.
You've Got to Have an Ace Junior Brian Steinocher recorded the first victory of his career last Friday against Texas State. Steinocher pitched seven innings and struck out eight Bobcats to record a 5-3 win in the team's league opener. He surrendered only two hits and one run in the contest.
Going, Going, Gone Junior catcher Steven Hill recorded home run No. 4 in the `Jacks' three-game series against Texas State. Hill's four homers are tops on the squad and tied for second in the league.
Getting the Start Sophomore David Miller recorded the first start of his career against the Bobcats. The 6-10 Miller pitched 4.1 solid innings surrendering four hits, three runs and struck out three in the no decision.
On Deck ... The Lumberjacks return home Tuesday March 14 to face Dallas Baptist. The game against the Patriots is slated to begin at 2 p.m. from Jaycees Field. SFA was originally scheduled to play this game in Dallas, but the venue has been moved to Nacogdoches.
