Lumberjack Baseball to Host Northwestern State

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team returns to the diamond Thursday to open a three-game series against defending Southland Conference champion Northwestern State. Thursday's game is slated to begin at 3 p.m. from Jaycees Field. The Demons enter the week with a 15-19 (.441) overall record and a 3-9 (.250) Southland Conference record. The 'Jacks are 6-30 (.167) on the season with a 2-16 (.111) league record. Friday's game is set to begin at 3 p.m., while SFA will close out the series on Saturday with a 1 p.m. game.
Junior outfielder Clay Britton has been watching his batting average steadily climb since the early part of the season. Britton is now third on the team hitting .261 with six doubles and 13 runs batted in. Britton got out to a slow start but has hit .357 with a double, triple and seven RBI over the course of the last 12 games and went 7-for-14 against McNeese State last weekend.
The Lumberjacks will stay in Nacogdoches Tuesday to open a two-game series against Texas-Pan American. The 'Jacks will host UTPA Tuesday at 3 p.m. from Jaycees Field. SFA will close out the two-game series against the Broncs with a 3 p.m. game Wednesday.
