SFA Launches Summer Social Media Campaign

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -The Stephen F. Austin athletics department is launching a new summer social media campaign beginning Wednesday with a grand prize of four tickets to SFA's road game at SMU and the Battle of the Piney Woods in October to be given away during the Lumberjacks' home football opener on August 30 vs Southwestern Oklahoma.
Fans will receive points for participating in social media activities such as "liking" Facebook posts, sharing, tweeting or posting pictures giving the Axe `Em hand sign. Each action will count toward a fan's total, which will be tabulated each week with weekly competitions stretching from Thursday to the following Wednesday leading up to the first football game of the season.
Eventually, overall totals for the duration of the campaign will be added up with the competition ending at noon on August 30. The fan with the most points over the course of the seven-week competition will receive the grand prize of four tickets to SFA's football game at SMU on September 8 and four tickets and a parking pass to the Battle of the Piney Woods vs Sam Houston at Reliant Stadium in Houston on October 6.
SFA Athletics is encouraging fans who are taking a summer vacation to show their Lumberjack spirit wherever they are by tweeting or posting pictures to the SFA Facebook or Twitter accounts giving the Axe `Em hand sign. Even fans who may not be in exotic locations are encouraged to tweet or post pictures giving the Axe `Em sign wherever they are as well.
Fans are encouraged to use the hashtag, #ShowUrAxe whenever they are Tweeting in their pictures showing their SFA pride, or to use the hashtag #ShowUrAxe in the subject line of an email to assistant director of media relations, Ben Rikard to have your pictures posted on Facebook.
