Ulric Maligi is now in his second season at SFA. Maligi is involved in all phases of the daily operation of the men's basketball office. He is responsible for on-the-floor coaching, recruiting, academic monitoring, and opponent scouting. Prior to joining the SFA staff, Maligi served one season as an assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Texas at Arlington during the 2006-07 season. According to Clark Francis of HoopScoop, Maligi is currently ranked the 40th best Mid-to-Low Major Division I assistant coach in the country. He spent three seasons (from 2002-05) as a student assistant at Howard University. Maligi also served as head coach for the Dallas Mustangs AAU program from 2003-06. In his time with the Dallas Mustangs, the program had 41 players sign Division I scholarships, including one McDonald's All-American in Byron Eaton (Oklahoma State) and one EA Sports Roundball All-Star in Anthony Randolph, who played his college basketball at LSU and is now on the roster of the Golden State Warriors of the NBA. A native of Charlotte, NC, Maligi played high school basketball at Arlington Bowie. He graduated Cum Laude from Howard University in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology.
