Men's Basketball Edged By SE Louisiana 65-61

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Lumberjacks could not protect the home court Saturday night against the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana as they dropped a 65-61 decision to fall to 9-10 on the year and 6-6 in Southland Conference play. Southeastern Louisiana, winners of four of its last six games, made ffree throws down the stretch to come away with the win. Amir Abdur-Rahim led all scorers in the game with 23 points to pace an SLU attack that shot .438 from the floor and just over 47% from the field in the second half of play. F Harold Juluke scored on a dunk with :47 to play to put SLU up 60-58, then the Lions went seven of eight at the line in the final :30 of play to seal the win. SLU also came up with an offensive rebound on the only free throw miss that proved to be a dagger in the 'Jacks heart. SFA led 32-31 at the half after trailing by as many as 12-points midway through the opening period of play. The 'Jacks went on a 14-2 run to tie the score at 24-24 then held a four point lead late in the first half. The 'Jacks had three players in double figures for the night with F Percy Green, G Skip Jackson and G Jasen Gast all scoring 13-points each. Jackson had 10-points in the second half of play. F ransom White once again led the Lumberjacks with eight rebounds, Green added seven. The Lumberjacks continue their four game homestand Thursday night as they play host to UT-Arlington as part of an SLC doubleheader. The men tip at 6:00 p.m. with the Ladyjacks to follow at 8:15 p.m.
