Clark Scores 27 In 'Jacks Win Over McNeese State
Feb. 3, 2005 NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- One week after being held scoreless in a loss to UT-Arlington, Marcus Clark scored a game high 27 points, including 15 at the free throw line, in leading SFA (10-8, 4-3) to a 63-58 win over McNeese State (7-12, 2-6). Hank Rivers posted his second straight double-double with 17-points and 12-rebounds to lead SFA on the boards. The Lumberjacks trailed by eight at the half, 33-25 after shooting just 38.5 percent in the first half and being outrebounded 19-14 over the first 20 minutes of play. Taylor Moore played only two minutes in the first half after picking up two early fouls but came back in the second half of play to pull down five boards and dish out two assists. The Lumberjacks ended up outrebounding the Cowboys 39-36 for the game in coming from behind for the win. The 'Jacks trailed for much of the second half before Clark started a one-man run and got the 'Jacks back into the game. He scored seven straight points over a 40 second span to erase a seven point McNeese State lead and tie the score at 42-42. The Cowboys quickly re-built the lead to six points, but the 'Jacks hung in and took the first lead of the second half at the 6:49 mark of the second half on a lay-up by Tim Simon. SFA goes on a one game road trip Saturday to Hammond,La. to take on conference leading Southeastern Louisiana in a 7:00 p.m. tip. |
