HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Jason Stephenson scored 16 points for Sam Houston State, leading the Bearkats to a 71-61 win over Stephen F. Austin on Saturday night.

Donald Cole added 15 points, and Felton Freeman had 13 for Sam Houston (14-12, 9-9 Southland).

Ransom White had a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds for Stephen F. Austin (10-13, 7-9). Percy Green scored 14 points.

The Lumberjacks shot only 35 percent from the field for the game, while the Bearkats hit 50 percent of their shots.
