    Burks Leads SFA To 80-63 Win Over Alcorn State

    Antonio Burks scored a game high 17 points, with 12 coming in the second half of play to help the 'Jacks to an 80-63 win over Alcorn State, in Alcorn State, Miss. Saturday afternoon. Burks hit six of nine shots from the field, including three of four three-point attempts to lead the Lumberjack attack.

    The 'Jacks streaked out to a large first half lead, building the lead to as many as 18-points in the first half of play, only to have Alcorn State cut the lead to only 11 at the half, 42-31. The Lumberjacks had a chance to put the game away in the first half before an 11-4 over the final 3:11 of the first half cut the lead to only 11 points.

    The 'Jacks withstood several challenges in the second half of play as Alcorn State trimmed the lead back to as little as eight points on three different occasions, but couldn't get any closer. Burks answered the final Alcorn State run with a big three pointer that stretched the lead back to 11 and the 'Jacks were never seriously threatened down the stretch.

    B.J. Banks led the team with six rebounds, and also added 12 points as all five starters finished the game in double figure scoring. Taylor Moore added 14 points, Marcus Clark had 11 and Jasen Gast had 13 for the Lumberjacks.

    Dedrick Sanders came off the bench to add nine points and Hank Rivers had the other four for SFA.
