    NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack basketball team moved to 4-0 on the season with a 56-49 win over Alcorn State (0-5), Saturday afternoon in the coliseum. It marks the first time since the 198-82 season that SFA has started a season with four consecutive wins. SFA began the 1981-82 season 7-0.

    The win also tied the longest home court winning streak in coliseum history, at 16 straight.

    Antonio Burks led the Lumberjacks with 15 points, the fourth straight time he has led the team in scoring this season. B.J. Banks was the only other Lumberjack in double figures as he added 13 points on the night. Taylor Moore added nine point sand Jasen Gast had seven for the 'Jacks. Brian Jackson led Alcorn State with 15 points, while Trey Johnson added 13 and Howard Myles had 10 for the Braves.

    Alcorn State outrebounded the Lumberjacks 36-28, and shot .422 (19-45) from the field, while the Lumberjacks managed to shoot only .368 from the floor (21-57) and only five of 18 (.278) from beyond the three point arc. Both percentages were season lows.

    SFA trailed by as many as nine points in the first half before a rally over the final 8:45 of the half was culminated with a Banks three pointer at the buzzer to send the 'Jacks in at the half with a 30-29 lead. Alcorn State took the lead twice in the second half before a Taylor Moore basket at the 11:40 mark put the 'Jacks up for good.

    The Lumberjacks are on the road twice this week with games at TCU, Monday night and at Centenary Thursday night.
