HOUSTON (AP) - Rakim Hollis scored 28 points, including four free throws in the final 1:08, as Texas Southern held off Stephen F. Austin 80-75 on Saturday night.
SFA's Ben Hunt hit a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left to make the score 78-75.
The Lumberjacks then fouled Hollis with 10 seconds left, and he made both to put it away for TSU (2-2).
Hollis was 6-of-12 from the field and 13-of-16 for the line, and also had six assists. Allan Lovett added 22 points, including all three of his 3-point tries.
The 'Jacks stumbled out of the blocks, trailing 21-3 in the opening minutes of contest before going on a 20-5 run to eventually take a one point lead late in the first half. Texas Southern managed to get the lead back and go in at the half leading by one point.
SFA could not overcome TSU's 34 free throws in the game however as SFA got a taste of being on the road. The Tigers shot 34 free throw attempts in the game to the 'Jacks six, outscoring SFA 23-2 at the line.
