The Lumberjacks finished the regular season Saturday with a 62-37 loss to McNeese State in Lake Charles, but due to a Sam Houston loss to Lamar, SFA finishes as the fifth seed in the SLC standings and will play Lamar (the fourth seed) Monday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Montagne Center. SFA returns to post-season play in Danny Kaspar's second year as head coach, and posted a 10-10 Southland Conference record, the most conference wins in a single season since the 1995-96 season.

The Cardinals are 2-0 against the Lumberjacks this season by a total of four points. Lamar beat SFA, 57-56, in Nacogdoches on January 10, and handed SFA a 65-62 defeat, in Beaumont, in mid-February.

Lamar's Ron Austin hit a running jump shot with one second remaining in the January 10 match-up to beat SFA by a single point. In the second meeting, Lamar jumped out to a 33-24 halftime lead, and led by as many as fifteen midway through the second half before the 'Jacks mounted a comeback.

SFA cut the Lamar lead back to only one, 63-62 with a second to play. Damany Hendrix hit two of four free throws in the final 1.8 seconds of play to provide Lamar with the winning margin.

The 'Jacks enter post-season play having won three of their last four games.
