NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin State University head men's basketball coach Danny Kaspar has announced the addition of two more student-athletes to his team for next fall. SFA has signed Leonard Brown, a 5-10 point guard from Jacksonville College to a letter of intent to continue his education and play next fall at the university. Kaspar also announced that guard Tim Simon has signed a scholarship offer to return to the university. Simon played at SFA as a freshman in the 2001-2002 season before transferring to Navarro College, in Corsicana, for his sophomore year.

Brown played for coach Branden Curran at Jacksonville College the past two seasons. As a sophomore, Brown averaged 10.2 points and 6.5 assists per game. He was also an honorable mention All-Region selection following his sophomore year.

"Leonard will provide us with the type of experience and skills needed to offset the loss of Ben Hunt. He has shown great leadership qualities at Jacksonville College, and I expect him to provide the same for us," said Kaspar. "His ball handling, passing and shooting abilities are excellent."

Simon rejoins the team after spending one year at Navarro College in Corsicana. He played his freshman year with the Lumberjacks, The 6-0 point guard appeared in 28 games as a freshman earning two starts for SFA. He averaged 3.3 points per game and 1.8 assists per game while playing just under 18 minutes a night.

Last season at Navarro, Simon averaged seven points and 7.3 assists per game. His 7.3 assists per game ranked 14th among junior college guards in the nation. "We are glad to have Tim rejoin us. I think that he has matured a great deal and will provide us with a lot of experience, leadership and skill at the guard position. Our players and staff are excited that he has decided to return to SFA," said Kaspar.
