Two Lumberjacks Named Preseason All-SLC
Oct. 11, 2006 FRISCO, Texas - Two Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks have been named to the 2006-07 Preseason All-Southland Conference basketball team, announced Wednesday by league officials. Senior forward Antuane Miller and sophomore forward Josh Alexander were both named to the squad, tying SFA with Sam Houston State for the most selections on the team. Miller is a first-team selection heading into his second year with an SLC program. The 6-6 Washington, D.C., native finished 11th in the conference in scoring with 13.4 points per game, and was 17th in the league in rebounding, pulling down 5.5 boards per contest. Miller scored in double figures 21 times last year with seven 20-point outings to his credit. Alexander led the Lumberjacks in both scoring and rebounding last season when he was named SLC Freshman of the Year. His 14.2 points per game were good enough to rank seventh in the conference, and his 6.1 rebounds per outing put him ninth in the league. Alexander also led the SLC in 3-pointers made (73) and 3-point field goal percentage (.477). He finished the year ranked sixth in field goal percentage (.528). Alexander finished the season with 22 double-digit scoring performances, dropping 20 or more points six times. -- SFA -- 2006-07 Preseason All-SLC Teams |
