'Jacks Add Two-Game Series with SMU

The dust has barely settled on the 2008 spring schedule, but the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team is already making plans for the 2009 season. The 'Jacks will kickoff the '09 docket Sept. 5, against SMU in Dallas, Texas, at Gerald Ford Stadium. SFA will also make a return trip to Dallas to face the Mustangs in 2012.

Runnels Receives Invite to Packers Camp

Former Lumberjack running back Louie Runnels has received an invite to Green Bay Packers mini-camp. The two-time All-Southland Conference selection will report to Green Bay Thursday for the beginning of camp.

Pasteur Signs Deal with Tennessee Titans

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team closed out spring practice Saturday evening with its annual spring game at Homer Bryce Stadium. Prior to taking the field, SFA honored the 1973 Poultry Bowl team.

Sandy Miller Arrested for Fundraiser

Hall of Fame athletic trainer Sandy Miller was arrested and hauled to an on campus jail Friday morning as part of an ongoing fundraiser for his wife, Madalene, who is battling Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Along with a deputy office, Nacogdoches County Sheriff, Thomas Kerss, arrived at the SFA Athletic Training Complex shortly before 10 a.m. and arrested Miller where he was placed in a cruiser and taken to an on-campus jail where he would be forced to make bail.

'Jacks Prepare for Final Scrimmage

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will step on the football Thursday afternoon for one of only three remaining workouts of the 2008 spring. The 'Jacks will hold one final practice Friday before playing its annual spring game Saturday.

Defense Routs Offense in First Scrimmage

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack defense had plenty of reason to smile as they walked off the turf at Homer Bryce Stadium Saturday morning following the team's first spring scrimmage. The defense recorded a knockout punch posting a 40-point victory.

The thunderstorms eliminated the Lumberjacks' scheduled workout Friday afternoon, forcing the team indoors. Despite the inclement weather, the 'Jacks are still preparing to take to the field Saturday morning for their first spring scrimmage.

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will take its first steps toward the 2008 season Monday when it steps on the field to open spring practice. The 'Jacks open practice with a 3:40 p.m. workout Monday on the SFA practice fields at Homer Bryce Stadium. The workout will be the first of 14 scheduled workouts for the Lumberjacks.

2008 Spring Schedule

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will begin its 2008 Spring Schedule with its first of 14 official workouts Monday, March 31 announced head coach J.C. Harper Tuesday morning. The Lumberjacks will also hold three scheduled scrimmages culminating in the annual Spring Game Saturday, April 19 at 6 p.m., which coincides with the annual Mud Bugs and Mud Balls tournament.

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football staff will be holding three coaches clinics in March announced head coach J.C. Harper Monday evening, but Harper has added a twist to this year's clinic schedule. Instead of coaches traveling to Nacogdoches for the clinic, SFA is taking the clinic on the road.
