Defensive Coordinator

YEARS AT SFA: Enters his fourth year at SFA, his 18th as a college assistant. Joined the staff in January, 2001. Defense led the SLC in scoring defense and pass efficiency defense in 2004. SFA also finished sixth in the nation in pass efficiency defense. Defensive unit led the SLC in pass defense efficiency and was 10th in the nation in 2003. SFA was also 13th in the nation in pass defense in 2002.

EDUCATION: Holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arkansas (1983).

PREVIOUS COACHING EXPERIENCE: Served as the defensive coordinator at Eastern Illinois University in 2000... defense was ranked in the top 30 nationally... coached secondary with the Toronto Argonauts, 1999-2000... Assistant coach at the University of Cincinnati, 1996-98, served two seasons as the secondary coach and was the defensive coordinator in 1998. Rush defense was fifth in the nation in 1997.... Defensive coordinator at Murray State from 1993-1995. The 1995 team was ranked third in total defense...also made stops at UNLV and Southwest Missouri State.

PLAYING EXPERIENCE: Played four years for Lou Holtz at the University of Arkansas... also spent one season with the Memphis Showboats of the USFL... Preseason All-Southwest Conference Defensive Back.

PERSONAL DATA: Married, wife Debbie works in the university's admissions office... one daughter, Krystle (19), a sophomore at SFA.

POSTSEASON PARTICIPATION: Appeared in four bowl games - 1979 Sugar Bowl, 1980 Hall of Fame Bowl, 1981 Gator Bowl and 1982 Bluebonnet Bowl
