Jake Willingham joined the Lumberjack coaching staff in July 2009, and spent his first season working with the Lumberjack running backs. The 2011 season will mark his second season working with the inside receivers. In Willingham's first season on campus, he produced a ground attack that complimented SFA's strong aerial assault. SFA's backs averaged better than 125 yards rushing per game, and recorded 11 touchdowns. Under Willingham's guidance, Pervis recorded a career year carrying the ball 153 times for 919 yards and two touchdowns earning second-team All-Southland Conference honors. Last season Willingham produced two all-conference receivers in sophomore Gralyn Craword and freshman Kris Lott. Crawford led the conference with 74 receptions on his way to first-team All-SLC honors. He finished the year with 981 receiving yards and five touchdown catches. Crawford earned All-America honors as one of the top all-purpose players in the country. He averaged better than 28 yards per kick off return in 2010, and returned three kicks and a punt for touchdowns. Lott had an immediate impact in 2010 hauling in 43 passes for 616 yards and five touchdowns. Following the year he earned honorable mention all-conference honors. Willingham came to SFA from West Texas A&M where he worked with the Buffalo receivers. During his time in Canyon, Willingham helped produce one of the nation's most prolific offenses. In 2008, the Buffaloes ranked among the nation's top two in three statistical categories. West Texas A&M led the nation in pass offense averaging 428.6 yards per game, finished second in the country in total offense (544.7 ypg) and scoring offense (48.6 ppg). Willingham brings and established recruiting presence with him to East Texas. Willingham recruited East Texas, as well as the Dallas area during his time in Canyon. Prior to his stop in West Texas A&M, Willingham spent two seasons as a student assistant at Texas Tech. During his time in Lubbock, Willingham worked with the Red Raider receivers. Willingham received his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech in December 2007. He graduated with his Master's degree from West Texas in December 2010.
