'Jacks Prepare for Final Scrimmage
March 21, 2007 NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team took to the practice field Wednesday afternoon, which marked the final practice before Thursday's Purple/White Scrimmage. The 'Jacks entered spring workouts with a ton of returning talent from the 2006 season, which includes 11 of 15 players that received postseason all-conference honors. The Lumberjacks also return two of their three first-team All-SLC honorees in quarterback Danny Southall and running back Louie Runnels. The 'Jacks' biggest question mark entering spring ball is in the secondary where it lost four letterwinners due to attrition. But SFA is not completely void of talent in that area with the return of speedsters Stephon Rhea and Johnny Thacker, plus a 2006 recruiting class that added five defensive backs. The coaching staff for the Purple squad is Arlington Nunn, Todd Schonhar, Matt Graves, B.J. McNutt, Tadd Scott and Brandon North. The White team's coaching staff will be Darren Drago, Gerald Broussard, Chris Truax, Eric Robinson, Aaron De LaTorre, and Todd Pennington. The lineup for the purple team will consist of: |
