April 1, 2005
NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Robert McFarland and his coaching staff will get their first look at the 2005 Lumberjack football team in action Saturday morning in the first of three planned scrimmages during spring practice. The 100-play scrimmage is scheduled to begin with stretching at 9:00 a.m. and play following at about 9:15 a.m.
The Saturday morning workout will give coaches theif first chance to evaluate talent on both sides of the ball in game type situations. There will be no kicking or punting during the workout.
The team has worked out six times this spring and will have eight more workouts over the next two weeks to conclude spring drills. Coaches have been pleased with the way the players have been able to learn the new systems put in place.
SFA will work out again Monday and Wednesday afternoon next week with the next scheduled scrimmage planned for Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in conjunction with an officials clinic held annually on the SFA campus.
