NACOGDOCHES - The dust has barely settled on the 2008 spring schedule, but the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team is already making plans for the 2009 season. The 'Jacks will kickoff the '09 docket Sept. 5, against SMU in Dallas, Texas, at Gerald Ford Stadium. SFA will also make a return trip to Dallas to face the Mustangs in 2012.

"We like to schedule at least one NCAA Division I FBS team every year," said SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill. "In the past those games have been well received by our fans, and the players look forward to playing them. We have a huge alumni base in the Dallas area, and this gives our fans a chance to see us play."

The 2009 game holds historical significance for both teams. Despite the relative proximity of the two schools, the 2009 season opener marks the first time SFA has stepped on the gridiron against the Mustangs.

The 'Jacks will open the 2008 season Saturday, Aug. 30, against Langston. The game against the Lions is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium.
