    Football Opener Moves To Thursday Night

    NACOGDOCHES, Texas-- Stephen F. Austin State University athletic department officials announced today that the football season opener has been moved to Thursday, Sept. 2, from its originally scheduled Saturday, Sept. 4 date. The 'Jacks are set to open the season at home against Henderson State. Game time for the Thursday night game is set for 7:00 p.m.

    "We hope that by moving the game from Saturday to Thursday night we will give more of our students and fans a chance to see the season opener and still enjoy the Labor Day holiday. We've done this a few times in the past and it seems to work out well. The Henderson State game will now be the start of a big holiday weekend for Lumberjack fans," said athletic director Steve McCarty.
