SFA Football to be Televised Five Times in 2013
June 11, 2013
The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will be televised five times during the upcoming 2013 season announced Southland Conference officials Tuesday afternoon. The 2013 television schedule is the largest in league history with 19 games to be aired. Similar to previous years, there is an opportunity for an added game in the final week of the season as the conference holds that week for it's wild card game to be scheduled at a later date.
In addition to the Lumberjacks' three games on the SLC Network, SFA will also have one game broadcast on ESPN3. The 'Jacks' lone ESPN3 broadcast will take place Saturday, Oct. 12 in Hammond, La. against Southeaster Louisiana (7 p.m.) SFA's first SLC-TV broadcast will be the following week when it hosts Nicholls State.
The Lumberjacks will close out the month October in Conway, Ark., against Central Arkansas. The 2012 version of the game against UCA was done in a downpour that saw first-team all-conference running back Gus Johnson set a then-career high by rushing for more than 200 yards.
The annual Battle of the Piney Woods, which now takes place at Reliant Stadium in Houston, will once against be a part of the Southland's annual television schedule. The rivalry between SFA and Sam Houston State has set Southland attendance records each of the past four seasons. All three broadcasts on the Southland Network will kickoff at 3 p.m.
Prior to the release of the Southland television schedule, Montana State announced that Max Media would broadcast the MSU vs. SFA game Saturday, Sept. 21. The game against Bobcats will also be carried by KCEB-TV in Tyler, Texas.
