Lumberjacks Hit the Practice Field
Aug. 4, 2006 NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team opened camp with a workout at Homer Bryce Stadium Friday morning. The workout was one of five scheduled acclimation practices in the first week of camp. "It was great to see all the guys back," said SFA head coach Robert McFarland. "I am very pleased with their conditioning. It is very obvious that these guys were working out on their own this summer and it showed today on the field. We are weeks ahead of where we were last year." Following the conditioning workout at the stadium, the Lumberjacks strapped on the helmets and began running through drills. The team was off the field by 9:30 a.m. The team will be in meetings for the rest of the afternoon and return to the practice field Saturday at 2:45 p.m. Notes: The 'Jacks will be hosting a Boys and Girls Club Clinic Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon at Homer Bryce Stadium. The clinic is for children ages 6-11 will cost $10 but includes a t-shirt. Lumberjack players will be on hand to sign autographs. -SFA- |
