Jared May Joins SFA Coaching Staff

Aug. 5, 2008

NACOGDOCHES - Stephen F. Austin head football coach J.C. Harper announced the hiring of Jared May as a new assistant coach Tuesday morning. May will coach the 'Jacks' inside receivers.

"I am excited about the addition of Jared to our coaching staff," said Harper. "He is a very knowledgeable young man, who has had great success in the past. I believe that our players will benefit from his experience."

May spent the past two seasons coaching the inside receivers at West Texas A&M, before making the jump to the NCAA Division I level. May helped guide the Buffs to an undefeated regular season, and the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2007.

A graduate of Hardin-Simmons, May has also made coaching stops at Hamlin High School, as well as his alma mater. During his playing days, May was a two-sport star who earned All-Southwest Conference, All-Region and All-America honors on the football field.
