Aug. 12, 2003 NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Ninety members of the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team reported to Homer Bryce Stadium today for the start of fall camp. Included in the 90 reporting student-athletes are 25 newcomers and 65 veterans. Included among the 25 newcomers are two transfers from Division I-A programs. Cletus McGee, a 6-2, 200-pound wide receiver from Tyler, has enrolled at SFA for the fall semester after spending the past two years at Tulane. McGee is a former standout receiver at Tyler John Tyler High School where he was a first team all-district selection for coach Allen Wilson in 2001. Also transferring to SFA for the 2003 season is former West Virginia cornerback Kris Williams, a 5-11, 180-pound redshirt freshman cornerback. Both transfers are expected to step into heated battles for playing time at their respective positions as practices begin Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Also included in the 25 newcomers are 14 freshmen signees from last February's signing class and nine walk-ons. The 'Jacks will work out once a day for the first five days of fall camp, with practices beginning at 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. SFA will work out in full pads for the first time Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., before returning Monday morning for the first day of two-a-day practices. Members of the media will have an opportunity to meet with and interview players and coaches Tuesday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m. as part of the annual media day activities. A team photo will also be taken. The Lumberjacks will hold their first scrimmage of the fall at 6:30 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, Aug. 23 in the stadium before taking a day off on Sunday, Aug. 24. The public will have a chance to meet with the 2003 Lumberjacks on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at the annual "Meet The 'Jacks" , sponsored by the Fredonia Rotary Club.
