    PLANO, Texas - ESPN, Inc. has reached a five-year agreement (through 2010) with the Southland Conference for coverage of football and men's basketball, in addition to the right to televise coverage of the conference's Olympic sports. Driven by its increased commitment to intercollegiate conferences, ESPNU, the new college sports network, will televise the first Southland events as part of the new deal.

    The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will be featured in a game televised on ESPNU when it meets rival Northwestern State on Nov. 17. The game, which is the regular-season finale for both Southland Conference schools, is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start from Natchitoches, La.

    The other SLC football contest set to air on ESPNU is the Sept. 8 showdown between Alcorn State and Southeastern Louisiana.
