Harper's Troops Prepare for Tough 2013 Slate

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team prepares for its first scrimmage of the season Saturday evening at Homer Bryce Stadium. As the team spends Friday preparing for the scrimmage, when they 'Jacks step on the field Saturday they know they will also be preparing to face one of the nation's toughest schedules in 2013.
Stephen F. Austin head football coach J.C. Harper regularly faces some of the nation's toughest schedules and 2013 is no different. In addition to their game at Lubbock to face Texas Tech, the Lumberjacks will be facing three teams ranked in the Sports Network's Preseason Top 10. In addition to the four ranked teams, SFA will also be playing four other schools listed in the others receiving votes category.
A nationally competitive schedule is a common theme for the Lumberjack teams under coach Harper. The 2012 season saw SFA take on three ranked teams, in addition to the two FBS opponents on the docket. The 2011 season also included three nationally ranked teams.
Saturday's scrimmage will be the fans first opportunity to see the Lumberjacks compete. SFA will step on the field at 7 p.m. for the workout.
