Austin Lumberjack football team as it gets set to kickoff it the 2005 season Thursday night at Homer Bryce Stadium against Henderson State. The game against the Reddies is slated to begin at 7 p.m. The `Jacks enter the season with a ton of new faces on the roster and the sideline. First-year head coach Robert McFarland and his staff will field a team with 44 first-year players on the roster when it faces Henderson State (1-0). The Reddies opened their season this past Saturday beating Arkansas-Monticello, 37-7. The victory marked the most lopsided season-opening game for HSU since the 1936 season. It is only the team's third win in its last 16 games. The `Jacks enter the season looking to continue a school-record run of sixth-straight winning seasons. SFA is 39-27 (.591) over that stretch, which includes two victories over Henderson State (2002 and 2004). NOTES: Fans coming to the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks' season opener against Henderson State Thursday night with at least a case of bottled water will receive free admission to the game.
