NACOGDOCHES - LUMBERJACKS CLOSE OUT NON-CONFERENCE SLATE AGAINST BISON: The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will remain in Nacogdoches this week to take on nationally ranked North Dakota State. The game against the Bison is set to begin at 6 p.m., from Homer Bryce Stadium. The 'Jacks enter the game looking for their first win of the season after a heart-breaking 37-35 setback to Central Arkansas. NDSU comes to town sporting a 3-0 recording and coming off a 29-24 victory over NCAA Division I-A opponent Ball State this past week.
SFA TO SUPPORT BREAST CANCER AWARENESS AT SATURDAY'S GAME: Lumberjack fans can support the purple, white and pink this Saturday at Homer Bryce Stadium. The 'Jacks' game against North Dakota State is going to be a 'Pink Out' to support breast cancer awareness. Fans are urged to wear pink to the game. Also, pink ZTA and SFA shirts will be handed out at the game while supplies last, along with ribbons and shower cards. Yoplait lids will also be collected at the gates, to help raise money for breast cancer awareness. Local breast cancer survivors will also be in attendance at the game.
SFA vs. THE BISON: Saturday's game against North Dakota State will mark the first meeting on the gridiron between the two schools. It also marks the fourth time this season that SFA has faced a first-time opponent.
LAST TIME vs. A NATIONALLY RANKED OPPONENT: The Lumberjacks face ranked I-AA opponents in consecutive weeks last season hosting No. 21 UC Davis and No. 7 Texas State. SFA trailed by 10 points against the Aggies, before they rallied to score 20 unanswered points to win the game. The 'Jacks finished that game with 410 yards of total offense. SFA also put up a big fight against eventual I-AA semifinalist Texas State, but came up short. SFA trailed by only a touchdown heading into the final quarter, but this time it was the visitors who went on a run. The Bobcats outscored SFA, 10-0, in the final quarter.
Up Next: SFA will open Southland Conference play Saturday Oct. 7, against Texas State. The game against the Bobcats is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos.
