'Jacks Prepare for McNeese State
Oct. 2, 2000
The Lumberjacks begin preparations for the Cowboys of McNeese State Monday night with a 7:00 p.m. practice at Homer Bryce Stadium. Monday begins a normal week of preparation following last week's open date.
SFA used the open week to rest several players with minor injuries and should enter the seven week SFL race 100% healthy. Running back Derrick Blaylock missed the second half of the Northern Iowa game after re-aggravating his bruised shoulder, but the off week came at the right time for the Atlanta senior. Offensive tackle Tim Hodges was held out of the game with Northern Iowa with a bruised knee, but has practiced and will be ready this week.
Quarterback Wes Pate returned to action against the Panthers after missing the previous two weeks, and is ready to go for the Southland Football League opener with McNeese State.
With the return of Hodges and Pate, the 'Jacks should be at 100% offensively for the first time since the season opener with Central Oklahoma.
On the defensive side of the ball, SFA has no major injuries, but DL Willie Harvey should return for the McNeese State game after not playing against Northern Iowa.
Game time with the Cowboys is set for 7:00 Saturday night, with a capacity crowd expected.
