Roberson Named FCS Athlete of the Week
Oct. 9, 2012
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Senior receiver Cordell Roberson has been named Beyond Sports College Network FCS Receiver of the Week announced publication officials late Monday evening. Roberson enters the off week as one of the nation's top receivers.
Roberson hauled in 14 passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns in a near upset of No. 9 Sam Houston State Saturday in Houston's Reliant Stadium. All three marks were career highs, as well as making Roberson the school's all-time leading receiver in receptions and receiving yards. In addition to those numbers, Roberson also became the fourth player in Southland Conference history to record 200 career receptions. All these marks came on the heels of Roberson becoming the conference's all-time leader in touchdown receptions.
Roberson's 14-catch performance is the third-best single-game mark in school history, while the 199 receiving yards is the second-best mark in program history. Roberson is currently ranked second in the nation in receptions per game and receiving yards per game.
The Lumberjacks will have the week off before stepping on the field Saturday, Oct. 20, to host Nicholls State. The game will kick off at 3 p.m. and will be televised on the Southland Television Network.
